Jurisdiction note (AU)

Australia — called a "Letter of Demand." State the exact amount, the basis of the debt, and a deadline (commonly 14–28 days). It is often a prerequisite to filing in a state civil tribunal (e.g., NCAT, VCAT).

Legal note

Do not use threatening, misleading, or repeated-harassment language. The US Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) restricts third-party collectors; if you are the original creditor you have more latitude, but abusive tactics are never advisable.
